WBG

As the largest humanities community in Germany, WBG offers discovery tours into the world of knowledge and provides a platform to hold discussions and debates. WBG’s nonprofit focus enables them and their 85,000 members to promote humanities projects that often cannot appear on the free book market. Nationwide, WBG organizes readings and events for members and friends for the WBG community. They are partners with numerous museums and libraries as well as publishers of renowned magazines.

Website Solution

GoPhygital developed a website for WBG, as a platform for existing members and friends to nominate non-fiction books from all German-speaking publishers for an award hosted by them. The website simplifies the process of finding the books, voting, and finally selecting the highest voted book for the award.

The Entire voting process was divided into different phases. To avoid fake votes, an algorithm was created so that each user could vote only once in each phase. To help others to review the book and vote, the website allowed registered users to put their views in the form of comments. An Admin panel was developed to allow the system admin to set and review phase timelines. Through the Admin Panel, the Jury, could review the comments & select the nominated books for the next phase.

Once all phases were done, the Jury could select the final nomination that was to be awarded.

The Value Take-away

Considering the stringent timeline set for the website to be completed, the team adopted an agile methodology of development and leveraged latest technologies like MVC, Knockout JS, Bootstrap, etc. to deliver on all key functionalities without compromising on the integrity of the project.
